Flexible and practical, the Executive MBA is designed to fit in with existing career commitments, enabling managers across a range of industries and sectors to want to boost their career prospects.
Each taught module is delivered in an intensive four-day block spread over one long weekend. Modules are offered at six points during the academic year. You can complete the course in a minimum of two-and-a-half-years and a maximum of four-and-a-half years. The programme will equip you to move into more senior management positions, either in your own organisation or moving elsewhere.
In addition to the Executive MBA course, we now offer a Level 7 Senior Leader Masters level Degree Apprenticeship, which represents a new and exciting opportunity to gain a prestigious MBA supported by employers and funded by the Degree Apprenticeship Levy.
You will take twelve taught modules, take part in a Dissertation Skills Workshop and submit a research or company-based project. The Executive MBA programme will equip graduates to move into more senior management positions either in their own organization or elsewhere. As a research-led School, the latest thinking and techniques are rapidly incorporated into our teaching to keep you at the cutting edge of the world of business.
Cross-Cultural Management skills are developed in a variety of workshops and Issues in Global Competitiveness are the focus of a specialist series of seminars. Researching and writing a project develops skills in information gathering, analysis and report writing. A supporting programme of consultant delivered career-development workshops allow you to reflect on the impact of what you have learnt on your future career development.
As a Birmingham MBA student, you will have exclusive access to the second floor of our award-winning £10 million postgraduate teaching space, the Alan Walters Building. This will provide you with access to facilities of the highest quality, including a Harvard-style lecture theatre, dedicated computer cluster and seminar rooms as well as breakout rooms and communal areas for studying and group work, which will look out over the University's ambitious Green Heart development, due to be completed in 2019.
On the Executive MBA programme we deliver a series of industrial seminars, given by outside speakers from industry and commerce which provides contemporary ‘real world’ perspectives on the business environment. Often these speakers are Birmingham MBA alumni who can lend their perspective on how the course helped them to develop their career.
As part of the Executive MBA, classes and seminars supplement lectures, where fuller analysis and discussion takes place and important business skills, such as analysis, argument and synthesis, can be developed. Case studies are used as a means of relating theory to practical situations and students will often work in small groups with other students on assignments designed to develop problem solving and interpersonal skills.
