Course Description

The MBA Aviation has been designed to satisfy the increasing need of the global aviation industry for graduates with a focus on key aspects of business and management.

The course aims to produce highly innovative and creative graduates with the technical abilities and management potential to compete for a wide range of careers in this exciting industry.

You will study 5 core modules:

You will also study 2 option modules from the following:

  • Operations management OR Supply chain management
  • Aviation crisis and active safety management OR Airport infrastructure and ground operations

Funding

A limited number of places may be available with full tuition fee support for Scottish-domiciled/EU students, studying full time, on this course starting in September 2019 to help talented students join this key growth sector for the Scottish economy. Fees will be funded by the European Social Fund and Scottish Funding Council as part of Developing Scotland’s Workforce in the Scotland 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Fund Programmes.

From 2017, eligible Scotland domiciled students studying full time can access loans up to 10,000 from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS).This comprises a tuition fee loan up to £5,500 and a non-income assessed living cost loan of £4,500. EU students studying full time can apply for a tuition fee loan up to £5500.

Part-time students undertaking any taught postgraduate course over two years up to Masters level who meet the residency eligibility can apply for a for a tuition fee loan up to £2,750 per year.

Our programmes are taught and examined in English. University of the Highlands and Islands Alumni Discount - No. of awards TBC

A 10% discount in tuition fee is available to degree graduates from the University of the Highlands and Islands on any of our taught postgraduate courses. The alumni discount applies only to the tuition fee element and does not apply to any additional costs which may be required to complete the course. The discount cannot be applied retrospectively and must be requested before or at the time of paying the first year fee.The alumni discount is not available in conjunction with any bursary or scholarship or combinable with any discounts from the university.

Eligibility

Degree graduates from the University of the Highlands and Islands are eligible for 10% discount on the relevant tuition fee for any of our taught postgraduate courses.

Application Procedure

Eligible degree alumni must request and have confirmation of the 10% tuition fee discount preferably during the admissions process, but certainly prior to payment of fees and/or enrolment.

Fees will be funded by the European Social Fund and Scottish Funding Council as part of Developing Scotland’s Workforce in the Scotland 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Fund Programmes. • To be eligible for this funding students must meet the criteria for Scottish domiciled or EU fee status and be domiciled in the Highlands and Islands Transition Region for the duration of their studies. In accordance with funding regulations, tuition fee support will only be available to students who meet the funding eligibility criteria and are self-funding i.e. who are not in receipt of funding for tuition fees from other sources, including employers. Funded places will be allocated and successful applicants notified in June. • Applications are welcome from all suitably qualified applicants. Students who do not meet the eligibility for the tuition fee support, or are not successful in being allocated one of the limited places, will be responsible for paying their own fees. However, there are other potential sources of funding support available.

Entry Requirements

Honours degree, normally at 2:1, and not less than 2:2, or international equivalent

There is no barrier to entry based on the subject studied to degree level

Other professional qualifications will be considered on an individual basis

International students whose first language is not English must also meet the language competency standards are detailed on the International page of the website.

It is desirable that you have post-study work experience

You will be asked to give us academic references before you can enrol and, where appropriate, provide employer references
