Course Description

The Executive Master of Business Administration is a globally recognised postgraduate qualification for ambitious, motivated professionals.

This course is available via Distance Learning with a September and January intake.

Course Details

Studying our Executive MBA course will support your career progression by developing your critical thinking and research skills and enhancing your business knowledge and understanding.

You will learn to think laterally, challenge convention and offer informed solutions to business issues. You will gain valuable skills that will set you apart from colleagues, allowing you to progress to your full career potential.

Your teaching will be delivered electronically enabling you to balance study with your commitments at work and home, whilst enhancing your employment opportunities.

You will be aided throughout the process by our supportive teaching staff that are professionally qualified and have industry and academic experience to share with you. You will be encouraged to engage with your fellow students and tutors online.

Studying via distance learning will give you the flexibility to study at your convenience without the need to travel or physically attend classes. Please note that modules are delivered within trimester periods so you will need to complete them in specified times.

Course Content

All modules are worth 20 credits unless stated otherwise.

Careers

Unlike other postgraduate courses which provide in-depth specialisation in a particular field, an MBA is interdisciplinary. An MBA exposes you to all areas of business including accounting, finance, marketing and human resources.

The Chancellor’s Fund - 10 Awards

The Chancellor’s Fund is a bi-annual fund providing students with awards of between £100 and £1,000. You must be a current student to apply.The criteria for applications are:
- training and research
- extracurricular activities, cultural activities, volunteering or sport
- priority projects – linked to the University’s strategic plan, including new and innovative start-up projects where there is an opportunity for social impactPlease note that the fund does not cover the following:

Dr Mike Daniel Research Degree Scholarship - Single Award

The Dr Mike Daniel Research Degree Scholarship awards £500 to a postgraduate research degree student at the University of Northampton.Dr Mike Daniel was Pro Rector (Academic Quality) from 1993-2002 and played a major role in guiding the institution towards taught degree awarding powers and university college designation. After his untimely death in 2002 friends and colleagues raised sufficient funds to create a research degree scholarship to be named after him.The award recognises the financial difficulties often experienced by research degree students. In particular, the award is aimed at specific costs often associated with an individual research programme, for example, travel, software and closed library access.Please note that this scholarship will be advertised again in spring 2018.Terms and Conditions:

The Sir Thomas White Charity provides loans and grants to support and encourage young people to progress their employment and career prospects by funding educational and training needs.Sir Thomas White’s Northampton Charity Grant Fund offers grants of up to £1,000 to support individuals to access education or employment opportunities.The Fund can be used for:- Education or training leading to a recognised qualification

To apply you must be:
- aged between 16 and 34 years
-a current resident of the Borough of Northampton and have resided there for (at least) the last five years

Entry Requirements

If you hold a first or second class honours degree from a British university, or equivalent qualification, and have a minimum of two years relevant management experience you will be eligible to apply for this course. We will consider your application if you can prove any prior credit or experiential learning that is relevant to the course. As this postgraduate qualification will attract professional practitioners and managers, you may be admitted on the basis of an assessment of meaningful and measurable prior learning or professional experience.
