Designed in consultation with regional and national businesses operating in a range of sectors across the tourism industry this programme gives you the opportunity to develop your operational and strategic knowledge in the management of tourism related businesses and obtain a highly relevant qualification at post graduate level. The MBA also provides you with the opportunity to focus on a particular sector of industry through the provision of specialist modules at Diploma level.

As a programme of applied learning that is designed to allow you to work and study at the same time, the MBA Tourism Management provides you with flexible learning options that include online study materials and face-to-face-teaching offered in a 3 day block at our stunning Ambleside campus. All modules are delivered by our team of subject experts, all of whom have industry and academic expertise, providing you with the opportunity to discuss the most up to date challenges and issues confronting businesses operating in this dynamic and fast moving industry.

In addition to the core modules that make up the programme, you can also opt to study two modules that focus on a key sector of industry, allowing you to build your expertise as a manager and develop your creativity, problem solving, interpersonal and strategic thinking capabilities, ensuring that you can have a positive impact on any company you work for.

Our strategic partnerships with Cumbria Tourist Board, the Lake District China Forum and the Lake District Hotels Association, alongside our wider national and international industry links provides you with access to the latest data and information impacting on the tourism industry in the region.

The course consists of three distinct but integrated stages:

PG Certificate – The Certificate Stage provides the key knowledge and skills associated with the management of the visitor experience and the need for innovation and the development of a unique offering in today’s competitive environment.

PG Diploma – The Diploma Stage discusses the contemporary strategic challenges and issues confronting organisations in the tourism industry and allows you to focus on a key sector of knowledge and expertise in order to enhance your employability.

Masters – the final stage of the MBA develops your applied research skills and competences, and includes a capstone project working in consultation with industry to address real world challenges and problems.
